For the second consecutive year, huts and shelters in the Bulgarian mountains can apply for renovation materials under the “Colorful Huts and Shelters” program. The initiative is jointly implemented by “Hut of the Year” and Orgachim and is aimed at caretakers who have a specific idea for improving the conditions in their hut or shelter.
The program provides materials according to the specific needs of the approved sites: interior and exterior paints, plasters, varnishes, and coatings for wood and metal.

The First 12 Colorful Stories Are Already a Reality
The program launched in 2025 and, in its very first year, supported 12 mountain sites. Each of them had its own story and a different need: from refreshing rooms and façades to protecting wooden elements and metal structures exposed to the harsh mountain conditions.
Among the supported sites are the huts “Eho,” “Granchar,” “Skakavitsa,” “Proboynitsa,” “Chumerna,” “Balkanite,” “Bonsovi Polyani,” “Kikish,” “Planinarska Pesen,” “Sinanitsa,” and “Macedonia,” as well as the “Tevno Ezero” shelter.

How to Apply
In the form, caretakers should briefly present their hut or shelter, describe the repair works needed, and indicate the materials they require.
Applications will be reviewed in a timely manner. At the beginning of each month, by the 7th day, during the period from June to October, the approved applicants will be announced. A representative of Orgachim will contact them to clarify the order and delivery details.
The materials will be delivered to the nearest settlement indicated in the form. The deadline for completing the confirmed delivery is up to six weeks after mutual confirmation.
